Individual Therapy

  • A series of questions prompting you to share your narrative history and specific details such as timelines and symptomology that will help me formulate a diagnosis from the DSM-V.

  • The process of setting mutually agreed-upon goals that will influence the structure and flow of your therapy, and periodically checking progress toward those goals throughout treatment.

  • A fancy way of saying that the treatment modalities I use have been proven successful by scientific research studies. My primary approaches are:

    • Cognitive Behavior Therapy

    • Person-Centered Therapy

    • Problem-Solving Therapy

    • Aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

    With incorporation of:

    • A strengths-based approach that incorporates your strengths and ability to make choices on your own behalf

    • Trauma-informed practice, or the understanding that trauma may have played a role in your life and shaped the way you view the world around you, and what you need in order to feel safe and empowered

    • Crisis intervention, or the evaluation of any risk you may present to yourself or others and the formulation of a plan to keep you safe

  • The process of teaching you about:

    • How disorders originate, present and are treated

    • Approaches that can be taken and tools to be used when solving problems related to mental health conditions

    • Coping skills used to manage and prevent uncomfortable symptoms

  • Collaboration with other members of your support system including healthcare professionals, case managers, or friends and family as appropriate

I offer individual therapy to adults of any age, but my favorite populations are older adults or anyone who has lost touch with their identity. Many of us spend our lives caring for others or hesitating to pursue what is most meaningful to us; maybe we got married and tended to our spouses more than ourselves, had kids we prioritized for the next few decades, or dove head first into careers that demanded our energy and consumed the time we’d have preferred to invest in loved ones, hobbies, education, traveling, and so on. Maybe we got so overwhelmed by all of the opportunities available to us that we floated on, present but not here, without making any choices at all. By the time we approach our next chapter, it seems like it’s written in Greek - we’ve become disconnected from our values, detached from our surroundings, or we’ve focused on everyone and everything else for so long that we don’t remember how to put ourselves first again so it feels uncomfortable, maybe even wrong, to do so. The next part of the journey is the one that I particularly love - I get to walk with you as you face the discomfort head-on and take ownership of it until you feel empowered by the ability to conquer what was once so foreign. You’ve found yourself again. You’re fluent in Greek.

I am currently not accepting any insurance but plan to accept Humana Medicare and Tricare in the near future. At the moment (and with limited availability), I can only take private pay clients - please see my rates below.
